Becker’s 10th Annual Meeting: Highlights

Last week, the CereCore team attended the Becker’s 10th Annual Meeting in Chicago and not only did we get to connect with many wonderful healthcare leaders, the sessions organized by the Becker’s team were enlightening. The various panelists offered valuable insight to many of the concerns and issues this industry deals with daily and we were all ears. Here are a few sound bites from the conference:

  • Bill Clinton’s keynote speech: He stressed the importance of cost containment, affordability, accessibility, and prevention as most important healthcare issues at hand.  These issues were also apparent in the education sessions throughout week.
  • Physician engagement: How to keep physicians happy by providing the support and assistance with the system’s E.H.R they need.  Systems across the country are dealing with high costs and constantly searching for ways to ease the burden.
  • Shrinking margins: Due to rising costs and declining reimbursements, many sessions focused on ways to grow revenue (retail pharmacy, consulting, inventions, etc.) or creative ways to find cash hidden in your building (charge capture issues, patient intake or physician documentation issues).
  • Cybersecurity: Some CIO’s spend over 50% of his budget on cybersecurity. It is top of mind for every CIO.

We are so grateful for the opportunity to engage with other hospital executives and learn more about their stories and needs. Every conversation was another chance for us to understand better how we can truly make a difference in this ever-changing landscape of healthcare. Thanks to Becker’s Hospital Review for such a fantastic event!
