Hospitals and health systems across the country are joining together to share aggregated data and metrics in a single platform via the COVID-19 National Response Portal. The community-mapping portal, backed by Google Cloud, HCA Healthcare, SADA and affiliates is expected to go live to the public the week of April 13th.
CereCore is assisting with the data collection effort at hospital clients we support, and we encourage other health care organizations to participate in this critical initiative. The platform facilitates powerful analytics for healthcare providers and policy makers to develop policies, engage communities and plan response-related logistics in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic.
The National Response Portal has outlined a streamlined onboarding process for data sharing on their website, including:
- Data privacy and use– the process begins with a Data Use Agreement which is structured in a manner to comply with HIPAA and other applicable restrictions with the release of a limited data set of COVID-19-specific metrics.
- Data upload configuration & schema documentation – a data upload questionnaire provides SADA with the technical information needed to configure the portal to receive your data. A schema is provided to generate files for upload.
- Upload verification and support – SADA will apply extra verification checks on the first upload to ensure data quality and compliance with the schema.
- Ongoing automated or manual uploads – data can be provided up to twice a day.
The National Response Portal is currently available to health care organizations on their website. Hospital IT departments who may need resources to produce this data can contact CereCore for assistance from our EHR and technical teams.
